Presentation of the biological resource access portal of the RARe's animal division

Abstract

The web portal https://crb-anim.fr/access-to-collection/# was developed between 2015 and 2017 thanks to support from the project Investments in the Future BRC-Anim. It allows consulting the catalogue of the collections of 5 BRCs concerning domestic animal species, managing demands for introducing and withdrawing samples, and access to associated data. This article presents the steps of developing the portal: the definition of standard descriptors, functional specificities and the selection of a service provider following a call for tenders, the development of the portal, and the creation of links to fuel the portal. The portal has been continuously improved since it was opened in 2017.
