Setting up training for ponies at UE PAO

Abstract

Interview with Fabrice Reigner, head of the equine team at UE PAO. Located at the INRAE Val de Loire research center in Nouzilly (37), the UE PAO is a multi-species experimental unit (pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, horses, rodents) belonging to the Animal Physiology and Breeding Systems department (PHASE). The facility is available to scientists for studies on topics such as reproduction, behavior, parasitism, welfare and agroecology. Our equine facility is unique in France, enabling us to set up 15 to 20 protocols per year. On a site of 500 ha of crops and 120 ha of woodland, six of us look after 130 pony mares and six Welsh stallions.
