Co-design of animal observation and welfare assessment tools

Abstract

The INRAE SBEA network has undertaken a project to co-design daily observation tools for animal monitoring and welfare assessment, tailored to our
experimental contexts. The grids, based on Welfare Quality protocols, report distress signals and flag animals requiring special attention. They ensure accurate documentation, and facilitate communication between teams. The project highlights the importance of ongoing collaboration among stakeholders to improve animal welfare.
