Tracking GHG emissions from INRAE events to drive reductions

Abstract

Organization of events such as conferences or seminars is essential in research activity. With participants sometimes coming from very far away, the events can generate significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. To know, count and reduce them, the Department of Social and Environmental Responsibility of INRAE has developed a tool for the organizers. It allows to quickly measure the GHG impact of the events, to inform participants and to initiate a reflection around possible reductions to integrate for their future experiences.
