The Melting Pot project: rethinking water management in an office building

Abstract

The “Melting Pot” project designed, budgeted and prioritized unconventional water recovery scenarios to be implemented at the INRAE building in Lyon Villeurbanne. These scenarios covered rainwater, industrial water, grey water and urine source separation. The project was built on a participatory approach involving all site staff, with the aim of making our building less dependent on conventional water resources. Some actions have been implemented as demonstrators (“toilets of the future”), while others are still under study, as they require more detailed characterization of non-conventional water resources.
