Lifelong learning at INRAE: an individual and collective response to environmental and societal challenges

Abstract

In a context of multiple transitions, INRAE is leveraging lifelong learning as a strategic driver to support its ecological, social, and organizational transformation. The 2023–2025 Skills Development Plan integrates corporate social responsibility (CSR) into a co-constructed, inclusive, and locally anchored approach. The training offer is structured around two programmes: a certification track for staff involved in the Institute’s CSR policy, and a “100% CSR” programme aimed at all employees. These initiatives promote individual skills recognition in support of collective action. For nearly thirty years, INRAE has also implemented a structured managerial support policy that integrates CSR to strengthen leadership capabilities, foster collective dynamics, and support institutional change. In doing so, the training policy of INRAE actively contributes to the emergence of a culture of sustainability and cooperation – essential to a resilient and exemplary public research system.
